11' 6" "Mariner II" SUP A great all-around SUP that's at home in calm water or the surf
|
The redesigned Mariner II has all the great qualities that the original Mariner had but is loaded with improvements. Normally you wouldn't mess with
something as successful as the Mariner but we saw the need to update the building method to make it build just like the rest of our boards. The
Mariner II now has a domed deck instead of a flat deck. It also offers the ability to build either wood strip rails or the solid laid up wood rails. It still
performs the same both in the surf and in calm water and has the carrying capacity of a party boat! Seriously, we've had three rowdy boys on this
thing at once and all they did is have fun!
You build the Mariner II using the same instructions and techniques as the rest of our boards and our complete instructions show you every step of
the process from picking out the wood to glassing the board. And just like all our boards, once you have the instruction manual you can buy the
full size templates for any other board for just $4.99.

The book shows all the details and takes you step-by-step through the whole building process.

The photo on the left
shows a finished Mariner
with a plastic vent, leash
plug, and carrying
handle installed. The
board also is outfitted
with VersaTraction so
you'll never have to
cover up that beautiful
wood grain with ugly
blobs of wax.
The photo on the right
shows the mariner
frame dry fitted and
ready to be planked.
Notice the rib ends are
set to allow hollow strip
rails to be installed.
Laid-up solid rails (like
on the board on the left)
can be installed
optionally. The
instructions show you
how to do both methods.
Laid-up Solid Rails
This board is going to
have laid-up solid rails.
The rib ends have been
cut off and rail strips glued
in place. Solid rails have
the advantage is being
somewhat stronger than
strip rails. The
instructions show it all
step-by-step.
Wood Strip Rails
This board is being built
with hollow strip rails.
These boards typically
take a little longer to build
but the instructions show
how to really speed up the
build. Wood Strip Rails
are typically lighter than
boards with solid rails.
